Al Heller

Al Heller has more than 40 years of experience leading healthcare and life sciences businesses. He is the former president and CEO of specialty drug company, American Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc. Al also served as senior vice president and president of Global Renal Operations at Baxter International, where he led operations for the Renal and Transfusion Therapies divisions, as well as global manufacturing and the office of chief scientific officer. Al began his career at G.D. Searle. During his 23 years with the pharmaceutical company, he was co-president and COO, and executive vice president and president of Searle Operations, and oversaw its integration with Pharmacia. He also served as a member of the Monsanto and Pharmacia Management Committees. Prior to Water Street, Al worked with members of the team at One Equity Partners. Al currently serves as chairman of Capstone Development Solutions and Long Grove Pharmaceuticals. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago and master’s degree in business administration from DePaul University.
