Pat Balthrop

Pat Balthrop is the founding principal of Apalachee Ventures, LLC. He previously served as president and chief executive officer of Luminex Corporation from 2004 until his retirement in 2014. Under Pat’s leadership, the company grew from $30 million in revenue to more than $200 million and significantly increased its profits. Luminex also expanded its international presence, commercial operations and built a strong product portfolio. Forbes honored Luminex as one of the fastest growing technology companies in America three consecutive years (2009-11) and Fortune as one of the fastest growing companies across all industries (2010). Prior to Luminex, Pat was president of Fisher Healthcare. He also served in a number of global leadership positions during a 20-year career at Abbott, spent largely in the company’s diagnostics and vascular device businesses. Pat is chairman of Agendia NV, lead independent director of Pattern Bioscience, and a director of MaxCyte (NASDAQ: MXCT). On behalf of Water Street, he serves as chairman of Discovery Life Sciences. Pat earned a master’s in business administration from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Spring Hill College.
